Nearsighted (myopia)
Patients with nearsightedness cannot see far away without
vision correction. The most widely prescribed contact lenses
used to correct nearsightedness are soft contact lenses. Soft
lenses have clinically demonstrated a lower level of visual
acuity than that provided by rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact
lenses or of eyeglasses. Soft contact lenses may offer patients
more comfort than an RGP lens, but often compromise the ability
to read street signs easily at a distance. This compromise
in vision is noticed more under low levels of illumination,
such as driving at night.
The rigid center of the SynergEyes® A lens combined
with the soft outer edge "skirt" provides clear, crisp, consistent
vision along with all day comfort. The irregularities of the
front surface of the eye that occur with nearsightedness are
often transferred to the front surface of a soft lens. Now
these irregularities are neutralized by the tear film between
the eye and the rigid center of the SynergEyes® A lens
giving you clear, crisp vision.
If you are nearsighted and want crisp, clear vision, ask your
eye care practitioner about the SynergEyes® A lens.
